Multi-day tours are perfectly suited to those visiting California or the West Coast for the first time. To get the most out of birding Los Angeles and the surrounds I usually recommend four full days of guided birding based out of Pasadena, California. This allows us to include a coastal and urban birding day, a mountain birding day, a California Condor day and a desert day.

A full day in the Los Angeles area offers a wealth of different possibilities. These might include: heading out to the desert for Bell's Sparrows and LeConte's Thrasher, climbing up into the San Gabriel Mountains for Mountain Quail and White-headed Woodpecker or a trip to the coast for Ridgway's Rail and California Gnatcatcher I love creating itineraries and am happy to tailor a trip to your needs.
As well as a host of exciting west coast and California resident specialties, other possibilities include searching local parks for wintering or migrant birds or even searching out introduced local specialties like Scaly-breasted Munia, Red-whiskered Bulbul or Red-crowned Parrot.
