OFFSHORE SALTWATER FLY FISHING
Addicted to fly fishing? Love seeing the follow and then the take? Wanna give the 10 or 11 weight a real test? During the summer months Ocean City Maryland offers outstanding fly fishing action for several species of very aggressive sharks. These sharks can range in size from twenty to forty pounds with the occasional fifty/sixty pounder thrown in the mix just to keep you on your toes. These sharks will aggressively pursue most flies, usually giving anglers multiple shots at any one fish. By the time early September rolls around the offshore fly action can be world class. Schools of voracious mahi show up in the canyons leading to what can be a fly fisherman's dream.

NEARSHORE BOTTOM FISHING
From the voracious and ever-eager black sea bass to "the bulldog at the bottom" (the tautog), and from the crazy-toothed triggerfish to the goofy-eyed flounder, these wrecks and reefs are swarming with fish. Knowing precisely where these wrecks are located (a closely guarded secret) and how to position the boat to fish them comes only with years of experience. Captain Dan of the Fin Chaser has been running boats off of Ocean City, Maryland for more than 35 years. While some slower boats are forced to stay closer to the inlet, the Fin Chaser's speed allows our anglers to fish on wrecks that are much farther from the inlet and don't get near the fishing pressure.

NEARSHORE TROLLING
Spending twelve hours on a fishing boat isn't for everyone. Some get a little hesitant when they think of being sixty mile offshore in several hundred or even thousand feet of water. Fortunately, Ocean City offers what can be outstanding fishing action well with a short one hour boat of Fin Chaser Sportfishing Charters. These areas known as hills or lumps are a gathering point for bait as well as several species of predator fish like king and spanish mackerel, bluefish, the hard pulling false albacore. Occasionally, and I must stress occasionally, these trips produce species that we normally encounter much farther off the beach like mahi, tuna and wahoo.

DEEP DROP TILEFISH FISHING
Deep dropping combines some of the best aspects of bottom fishing (you hold the rod, you hook the fish) and offshore trolling (bigger fish, blue water). Ocean City, MD has been gaining popularity as a deep-dropping destination over the past few years, and we've still only scratched the surface of the fishery. We mainly target blueline tilefish, which grow to around 20 pounds, and golden tilefish, which can grow to 60 pounds or more. That's one fish, multiple fish fries right there, and it'll be some of the cleanest, whitest meat you've ever tasted. While deep dropping for tilefish, we also regularly catch black-bellied rosefish, jumbo sea bass and occasionally a snowy grouper or a wreckfish.

OFFSHORE BIG GAME FISHING
Forty miles off Ocean City Maryland begins the slope waters of the famed canyons. This slope begins at 240' and continues until the steep canyon walls begin around 400'. There the bottom plunges to several thousand feet. This steep drop creates a condition known as upwelling. Where the nutrient rich waters for the deep are forced upward by the canyon walls. This deep blue nutrient rich water is a mecca for tuna, marlin, mahi and wahoo.
