Captain Chris Jones is the man behind Mudpuppy Charters. His love of fishing brought him to Florida from Pennsylvania 20 years ago. During the early years of his career, he worked off-shore fishing for sailfish, dolphin, etc. His passion, however, lied with shallow water backcountry fishing. He started MudPuppy Charters in 2003 and business has thrived ever since.

Our Captain is known for his broad range of experience with all styles and techniques of fishing, excellent demeanor with clients and passion for his surroundings. His diversity is demonstrated with tournament wins such as Backcountry Fly Championship, Cheeca Presidential, Redbone Series, All Tackle Bonefish, Shark Fly Tournament…and numerous others.

Captain Chris takes pride in providing a high quality fishing experience from Miami to Key West. Most of the year he is based out of Islamorada, while summer often has him in the lower keys to provide his clients the best fishing opportunities available. Although he works with the most advanced of folks, he can easily cater to the needs of novice anglers or just someone interested in an easy day on the water.
