Main Umpqua River Steelhead Fishing
The main stem of the Umpqua River system is a very unique river to fish. At the right water level, this part of the Umpqua can be one of the best places to fish for winter steelhead. The main stem flows along mostly remote or low populated areas leaving a person with a true feeling of being outdoors on a guided fishing adventure. If peace and quiet are what you are wanting on your fishing trip, the main stem of the Umpqua would suit you perfectly. With more areas to fish than the North and South Umpqua's, you will be around fewer people on the water and also a ton of fish! This part of the river triples your chances of catching winter steelhead because the fish have to run up the main before splitting off to either of the stems. It is like fishing three rivers all at once. Generally fishing this river happens earlier in the season because the water levels have to be perfect and with too much rain or snow those levels increase tremendously.

Main Umpqua River Coho Salmon Fishing
This fish, a very prized salmon species know to anglers of all kinds is also known as a "silver". My first time fishing for coho salmon on the main Umpqua I caught more silvers than I ever thought I would. Silvers are hard biters and love to attack plugs or spinners in the water making for a super aggressive takedown and fun fight. Guiding for coho salmon is always exciting to me because there are so many chances to catch a coho salmon on the main Umpqua. Fishing for silvers on a guided fishing adventure with NK Fishing Guides will ensure lots of fishing excitement on one of the best rivers in Oregon.

North Umpqua Steelhead Fishing
The North Umpqua River is known for some of the best winter steelhead fishing in Oregon. There is no hatchery, so the steelhead caught on this stem of the Umpqua is likely to be native but, the river produces massive amounts of those native winter steelhead. The fish on the North Umpqua river are generally larger fish; landing a steelhead near that 20 plus pound mark is very common for Umpqua fishing guides. A professionally guided steelhead trip on the Umpqua river will bring you lots of chances at those chrome "metalheads" we all can't get enough of. The North Umpqua River offers some of the best winter steelhead fishing in Oregon.

Coquille River Winter Steelhead Fishing
The Coquille river has a phenomenal hatchery program that provides exceptional fishing conditions under ample river circumstances. If you expect an abundant amount of chances at fish, the Coquille hatchery program gives the river that possibility and you should book this trip. It is one of the best steelhead guided trips you can find. A person can take home 3 hatchery steelhead per day on parts of the Coquille river system and these winter steelhead fishing adventures are done from a drift boat with a built-in heater and oven! Oven??! Yes, we have a built-in area you can heat up frozen food. For example, I take breakfast burritos, wrap them in tinfoil, stick them in this tray; within 30 minutes I've got breakfast or lunch on the water!

Chetco River Salmon Fishing
Spring Chinook enter the Rogue River in April and May. They are in a hurry to get to the upper river near Shady Cove. They are a great fighting fish that people of this region treasure. Most anglers who enjoy sea-run fish in Oregon consider Spring Chinook to be the best eating. Two per day may be kept. Typically they bite best early in the morning, so we get up early for this adventure.

Rogue River Steelhead Fishing
Since becoming a professional southern Oregon fishing guide, I have conquered steelhead fishing on the Rogue River. Although the Rogue River does not have as big of return numbers as the Umpqua fisheries there is still plenty of Rogue River fishing to be had. An average day fishing the Rogue River will bring 3-4 steelhead to the boat, all of good size. I enjoy fishing for steelhead on the Rogue River not only because it has taught me so much in the past but because the low return numbers make southern Oregon fishing guides work that much harder to catch steelhead on the Rogue River.

Rogue River Fall Chinook Fishing
Fall Chinook Salmon fishing is much like the Spring salmon fishing on the Rogue River. The only difference being the quality of fish and more native salmon numbers. During the fall months, Salmon have been in the fresh water for a longer period of time. This means that the grade of meat is not as high as the spring Chinook salmon but, the fight is just as hard as those sought after "springers". Fishing for Fall Salmon on the Rogue River is a great time and more successful for most other Southern Oregon fishing guides. Our guide service looks forward to both seasons since we have had the opportunity to better understand the King Salmon in our local Rogue River than most others.

Rogue River Salmon Fishing - Spring Chinook
A well-known treasure in the heart of Southern Oregon, the Rogue River has a very special place in my heart. It is where I grew up, it is what taught me the most and where my fishing skills were genuinely defined. Spring Chinook salmon fishing on the Upper Rogue River is some of the most intense, but rewarding salmon fishing in Oregon. Since my younger years, I have studied, mastered and become one of the best salmon fishing guides on the Upper Rogue River.
